First Preview of Operation Portmanteau: The Letter

The first preview of Operation Portmanteau--the newest scenario for use with Treasure Hunter Adventures and the Savage Worlds RPG--is a letter, recently received by Agent Joseph Clark from the Office of Strategic Services.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to unburden myself of a secret that I have carried for seventy-five years. During the Second World War I served in a church in Bürglen. There I met a young man, Emanuel LeGris, who claimed to be an art dealer from Switzerland. He was working with those Nazis who were occupied in looting religious and art treasures from territory conquered by their army. In spite of that, though, I could tell that he was different from them—that he was not a true believer in the Nazi cause.

I was saddened when I learned that he was accused of being a traitor and killed. On that same night they burned down my church, and so after the war I ended up moving to the Convent of St. John in Müstair. There I have lived a life of service and contemplation—but always with this secret.

Enclosed you will find an item that Mr. Grey entrusted to me on the night before he was killed—a small crown. I do not know the importance of it, but I believe it might be connected to some secret that he wanted to keep from his enemies, perhaps something that he left behind in Altdorf. Hopefully you can make some sense of it.

Yours,

Sister Margaretha
